We are absolutely delighted to congratulate Wentworth Foundation golf scholar Harry Barclay, who has been crowned Wentworth Junior Club Champion after a superb two-round performance across the Club’s renowned East and West courses.
Harry shot 4 over par on the East Course and followed it up with an equally impressive 3 over par on the West Course, winning the title by 3 clear shots; an amazing victory on two of the most celebrated and challenging parkland layouts in the country.
The East and West courses at Wentworth Club have hosted the world’s finest golfers across decades of elite competition, and to navigate them both with the composure and quality Harry showed is a truly special achievement for any junior golfer.
What makes this victory all the more impressive is the context in which it arrives. Harry has already claimed a victory on the British Junior Golf Tour at Sunningdale Heath Golf Club earlier this summer; the UK’s leading DP World Tour Approved junior development tour. Back-to-back wins across two different and demanding competitive formats in the same summer tells its own story about Harry’s progress, his dedication to his game and his growing belief in his own ability.
This is the Foundation’s mission in action; giving talented young people access to world-class coaching, facilities and support, and watching them flourish as a result. Harry is a brilliant example of what our scholars can achieve, and we look forward to seeing what the rest of his golf journey holds.
Congratulations, Harry. Everyone at the Wentworth Golf and Tennis Foundation is incredibly proud of you. 🏆💚
