Sunday 16th August was a afternoon our golf scholars will not forget in a hurry, and one that marked an exciting new milestone in the story of the Wentworth Golf and Tennis Foundation.
Scholars gathered at Wentworth Club to receive their brand new bespoke kit package, presented in the company of Club Captain Jon Noble (chair of The Trustees), trustees, mentors and patrons. Each scholar received a custom Titleist bag, Peter Millar shirts and mid-layer tops, and caps from Imperial Hats; three brands that sit at the very top of the game, and a fitting reflection of the world-class environment our scholars are privileged to be part of.
Seeing our scholars kitted out in their Foundation colours, surrounded by the people who support and believe in them, was a genuinely proud moment for everyone involved. The kit is more than clothing, it is a symbol of belonging, identity and the standards we hold ourselves to as a Foundation.
The celebrations continued out on the course with a scratch scramble on Wentworth Club’s beautiful 9-hole par 3 layout, each team consisted of two scholars and a trustee, mentor or patron. The quality of golf on display was a testament to the progress our scholars are making, two teams recording a superb 8 under par, with the Captain’s team pipping the other on countback to claim the bragging rights.
Adding a touch of star quality to the afternoon was England cricket international Ravi Bopara, who joined one of the teams and brought wonderful energy and sportsmanship to what was already a very special occasion.
Our warmest thanks go to Titleist, Peter Millar and Imperial Hats for their generous support in making this kit possible, and to Captain Jon Noble, our trustees, mentors and patrons for giving their time to be part of such a memorable day. Most importantly, congratulations to our scholars; you looked brilliant, played brilliantly, and made us all incredibly proud.
This is the Foundation at its very best. Breaking Barriers. Building Champions. Living the Legacy. 💚🏆
