SSGT STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
CONGRATULATIONS TO JOSH THOMPSON FOR WINNING THE SSGT STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP.
On the 17th and 18th March, Josh played his first tournament of the season in the SSGT Strokeplay Championships at The Springs Golf Club & Resort and won, beating a very strong field.
This was a 54-hole event, and he was 5 under through the front 9 in the first round. He birdied 11 and 12 but bogeyed 13 to leave the only blemish on his card for the day finishing 6 under.
The final scores came in and he was one off the lead.
He was one under through the front 9 on the second day for the first round in the morning. However, he bogeyed 10 and 12, birdied 11 and managed to drive the green on 17 to sink his putt for an eagle to finish 3 under.
At this point he was leading the pack, but someone came in with an impressive 8 under to pip him to the top ahead of the final round.
Windy conditions for the afternoon were forecast which made for a tricky round but he managed to bring it home 2 under.
He finished the tournament with an impressive 11 under through 3 rounds to win by one shot.
