SUNNINGDALE FOURSOMES
Congratulations to Millie Cottrell and Ava Bates
After an incredible performance last year at the London Foursomes. We are very proud to announce that two of our scholars, Ava Bates and Millie Cottrell, qualified to play in The Sunningdale Foursomes.
The Sunningdale Foursomes is a unique tournament that was first played in 1934. Often once seen as the curtain raiser of the golfing season in Europe, the Sunningdale Foursomes is played over both the Old & New Courses in early March. Entries are limited to 128 pairs with entrants required to support a list of recent golfing achievements in order to support their entry. This tournament is one of few in golf that supports the competition between professional and amateur golfers, which is what makes it so popular and niche.
On March 7th the girls teed it up on the New Course to endure 18 holes of brutal knockout match play. Battling it out in cruel conditions, they were all square (A/S) walking up the 18th. Unfortunately, they lost on the 19th. Nevertheless, they found the experience rewarding and learnt so many things that they can take forward into their forthcoming coming events. We are so proud of the girls for participating and cannot wait to see what comes next for them!
