A team of four Wentworth Golf and Tennis Foundation scholars travelled to Royal Dornoch Golf Club to compete in the first Donald Ross Junior Invitational. The team was Layla Maidment, Amelia Van De Mortel, Seb Duffield and Harry Wang.
The event was contested over two days, with rounds on the Struie Course and the famous Championship Course. The field was drawn from golf club academies and junior programmes across the United Kingdom.
Conditions on Saturday were testing, with gusty winds and rain making scoring difficult for all competitors. For many of the Wentworth team this was their first experience of links golf. They adapted well to the bounce of the ball and the influence of the wind, and each player returned with valuable lessons for their development.
The standout performance came from Seb Duffield, who won the individual prize for the lowest overall gross score, finishing at 3 over par across the two rounds.
The Foundation congratulates all four scholars on the way they represented Wentworth, and thanks Royal Dornoch Golf Club for their warm welcome in hosting this new fixture on the junior calendar. We look forward to returning in future years.
